We have had great numbers at our first week of training after the shutdown. How lovely it was to be back in the fresh water! The pool is spotless, the water beautifully warm and the enthusiasm of participants enormous! If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, do give it a try! It’s not such a problem having to go home in wet togs – as long as you have a warm tracksuit or coat. (The State Government restrictions are being eased again this week, so this may soon change!)
We’ve tried to organise the coaches’ roster so that you swimmers get more continuity. This will enable your coach to get to know you better so he/she can assess your needs and aim for improvement in your fitness (for all) and your times (for those who compete). We are easing into this and still offering a little variety for the next two months. It would be great if we could build up numbers on Tuesday nights so those swimmers can have the benefit of two coaches as well! We would appreciate any feedback on the coaching program! If you haven’t done it by now, remember to fill in the Covid Questionnaire. (I’ll attach one below) Either email it to Wendy, or bring it along to training and give to a committee person.
John Crisp will be back at Nerang Pool this Saturday (8.30am on 4th July). John offers a short and sharp session in the 25m pool. At this stage, of course, the emphasis will be on regaining what we have lost. Once back to fitness, this is a great session – especially for improving short course skills. John also offers stroke correction, and advice for improving turns and starts.
Remember that the National Titles are a short course event – at this stage still scheduled for Sydney (from Sept 30)! Remember the advice above for the Questionnaire.
