    State Relays

We have had around thirty members already committed to coming to the State Championships at Kawana, 9-11 April 2021. This is just a reminder for those still thinking about it. We would love to have you along – and we are really hopeful that you will join us in the relays. They are held at the end of the program on the Friday and Sunday, and are always a lot of fun! But there is also a serious side to them! Our club has a proud history of breaking records in the relay events! So, please come along if you can – and if you are coming, please lend your weight to our relay teams. This time, we are allowed to put in more than one team in each event – and points are allotted for each team! There is a form (below) you can fill in, to indicate which relays you’d like to compete in. Please help us to break a few more records! Please complete this online form (https://forms.gle/LQp2rRkyn7QnwJE38) Check your times before the event! Register for the MSQ Preparation Meet to be held just down the road at Palm Beach on Sunday 21st March. (Check the MSQ website for details.) but hurry as they have almost reached their limit of 200 entries! There are no relays on that day, but after the lay-off we experienced last year, it’s a perfect chance to test your speed and fitness ready for the States. Why do we want you in our relays? Because we are good at them and have a proud reputation to uphold! Some of you might not even realise that your name already appears on the Masters Swimming Australia Results Portal as a member of a record-breaking relay team! (Some of these go back more than thirty years.) I’m sure there were earlier ones, but here is a summary of the Miami teams that are currently listed on the Portal: Men’s LC National Records: 21 over time; 5 are still current! Men’s LC QLD Records: 43 over time; 16 are still current! Men’s SC National Records: 8 over time; 7 are still current! Men’s SC QLD Records: 31 over time; 18 are still current! Women’s LC Nat. Records: 4 over time; 2 are still current! Women’s LC QLD Records: 29 over time; 14 are still current! Women’s SC Nat. Records: 4 over time; 2 are still current! Women’s SC QLD Records: 22 over time; 10 are still current! Mixed LC National Records: 4 over time; 3 are still current! Mixed LC QLD Records: 43 over time; 16 are still current! Mixed SC National Records: 8 over time; 34 are still current! Mixed SC QLD Records: 28 over time; 13 are still current! Endurance Reminder Miami: Fridays at 11am and this Sunday (1st of the month) at 11.30am. If you had any swims timed for the Albany Creek Postal event, entries have to be in by 15 March. Thanks Lindy
